The Great Wall of China is actually called the “Long Wall” in Chinese. Which is an apt name as it stretches 5,500 miles (8,851 km) across the northern part of the country. This section is near Beijing (click on the photo for a much better view).

Today I’m traveling to Orlando, for Global Missions meetings later this week. I’m sitting in DIA (Denver Int’l Airport) where small birds have taken up residence in the B Concourse. These birds are flying around, gathering crumbs, chattering, roosting and making a mess. The basic things birds do. It’s a type of aviary here. I had to clean my chair before sitting down.
I should gratefully consider the metaphor in front of me – these creatures experience the freedom of flight while I’m preparing to fly in a man-made machine. Mankind has finally caught up with nature. I get it, I just wish the birds would use their designated rest rooms before departure.
Sign on Howrah Bridge in Calcutta, where 150,000 people cross daily on foot. Corrosion due to human spitting of betel leaf juice (like tobacco), is slowly destroying the bridge. I’ve crossed it several times, both on foot and in a vehicle, and the bridge felt stable to me, but I did see lots and lots of spitting…
